My husband and I recently retired and decided it was time to downsize. God bless Stephen Lau. We were referred to Stephen by our trusted mortgage specialist at the bank, who told us very clearly that Stephen was the only Realtor he trusted to get things done properly, with both competence and speed. At that point, we truly needed both. Before working with Stephen, our home had been listed with another Realtor for over three months with absolutely no results. We had already moved to Ontario, where we had a new home being built, and we were less than 60 days away from taking possession. The entire situation was extremely stressful. Our previous Realtors seemed to be guessing what our house was worth, and we never felt confident in their pricing or strategy. Because we were already living in Ontario, everything with Stephen was handled entirely over the phone. Despite the distance, he was incredibly organized, responsive, and decisive. From the beginning, he demonstrated a sharp eye for detail. One of the first things he pushed us to do was hire a landscaper to deal with foot-high weeds in the backyard—something that had been overlooked before but made a huge difference in presentation. We were introduced to Stephen Lau by my brother, who had previously sold his home with Stephen and spoke very highly of the experience. From our first meeting, it was clear why—Stephen was organized, thorough, and very clear about the process from start to finish. One of his key recommendations was to complete a home inspection before listing. This allowed us to address any issues in advance, which ultimately prevented re-negotiations after the buyer conducted their own inspection. Knowing everything had already been taken care of gave us a lot of confidence and made the entire process much smoother. Stephen also arranged for an independent appraisal to ensure the home was accurately priced. I was referred to Stephen Lau by my family. Both my mom and my brother had worked with him before and had great results, so when it came time to sell my home for the first time, I already had a lot of trust going in. That said, this was my first sale, and it was really important to me that I felt confident in both the Realtor and the process. Stephen didn’t just meet my expectations—he completely exceeded them. He walked me through his approach right away and showed examples of promotional videos from homes he had sold. He strongly recommended working with a professional stager to improve how the house showed, which turned out to be a great call.
